French Louis XV Bureau Plat

Elegant French Louis XV style bureau plat, dating from the early 20th century.

This refined writing desk features a beautifully shaped serpentine form, decorated with fine marquetry veneer and rich gilt bronze mounts. The top is centred with a leather writing surface, framed by warm-toned wood veneer and finished with a decorative bronze border.

The front side offers three practical drawers, each decorated with elegant bronze handles, escutcheons and ornamental mounts. The curved legs are enhanced with bronze sabots and floral corner mounts, giving the piece a graceful and luxurious French character.

The reverse side is also decorated, designed with faux drawer fronts and matching marquetry details, allowing the desk to be placed freely in the centre of a room rather than only against a wall.

The leather top shows visible age-related wear, patina and surface marks, consistent with its use and period. These details add authenticity and character to the piece.

A charming French writing desk with elegant proportions, decorative bronze details and beautiful marquetry work, ideal for an office, study, library or classic interior.
