Decorative Chinese ruyi sceptre with three carved green jade plaques, mounted on a curved wooden body, 20th century.
The ruyi is a traditional Chinese auspicious object, associated with good wishes, prosperity and fulfilment. This elegant example features the classic curved sceptre form, with three inset green jade plaques: a large ruyi-shaped head, a central oval plaque and a smaller terminal plaque.
Each jade plaque is finely carved in relief with symbolic decorative motifs, including floral forms, auspicious emblems and an endless knot-style design. The deep green tone of the jade creates a beautiful contrast with the warm reddish-brown wooden frame, giving the piece a strong and refined decorative presence.
