Large Italian Hand-Painted Majolica Amphora Vase, Arno Italy
 
Decorative Italian hand-painted majolica amphora vase, marked “Arno Italy 1247” on the underside.
The vase features an elegant classical amphora form with tall scrolling handles, a flared neck and a raised foot. Its white glazed body is richly decorated with colourful hand-painted motifs, including landscape cartouches, stylised birds, floral scrolls and Renaissance-inspired ornamental details.
The central landscape panel depicts a charming mountainous scene with a small house, trees and soft pastel tones, framed by decorative golden-yellow scrollwork. The surrounding decoration includes lively polychrome birds, foliage and ornamental patterns in green, blue, yellow, purple and ochre tones.
The underside bears the mark “Arno Italy” together with the number 1247, most likely referring to a model or decoration number. The piece belongs to the Italian majolica tradition, with strong decorative influence from Tuscan and Renaissance Revival ceramics.
